Great psychiatrist. Very caring, thoughtful, and professional. Highly recommend him.
It’s really hard finding a good psychiatrist but this one is a keeper. He got it right the first time, listens, and answers in a crisis. Finally I feel normal.
I highly recommend Dr. Yang for psychiatry needs. He is attentive and kind. He responds emails and phone calls quickly. He is knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. Every psychiatrist I called for an appointment had wait times of up to four months, however Dr. Yang was able to see my right away as a new patient. His office environment is comfortable, and relaxing. He diagnosed me and give me an estimate as to how long he predicted my depression would last.

If I could give this place 200,000,000,000 stars I would. He actually cares about his patients and is extremely knowledgeable (MD and PhD in Neuroscience). Yes, he has a great location, lots of parking ($5) and an office with impressive abstract paintings. What really sets him apart is THAT HE TRULY CARES AND CONSULTS WITH THE CLIENT 100%. Unlike my previous psychiatrists who would meet me for 15 minutes to glance at my chart and give me medication to try, Dr. Yang looked at everything, and I mean everything. He requested all past medical records to make a decision on which medications to suggest. He took into consideration my body’s reactions to previous treatments and external factors. Had it not been for him I probably would not be alive. He met with me every two weeks for an hour, we would converse for 30 minutes, and go over medication and literature for the other half hour. He has completely honest about the pros and cons of each prescription, and if I was willing to try it. He never sugar coated anything, and I think that helped a lot. He also had a good idea on how my body would react, and he was always right. I am glad my friends helped me pay my initial consultation, and for Dr.Yang who did not turn me away but provided a payment plan for me after evaluation. Now I am enjoying my 30’s and planning for the future. I did not think I would make it to see my 30th birthday before coming to Clarity Mental Health. This place goes beyond the call of duty for their patients. I always felt understood and respected on all levels. His office has a different entrance and exit for privacy and he never runs late, they answer all phone calls and I never had any problems with my pharmacy or paperwork. Extremely professional and trustworthy. Thanks to Dr.Yang, I am thriving and enjoying life today.

I know what it is to try and find a good psychiatrist. By “good”, I mean, one that is extremely well trained, empowers his patients by teaching them about their diagnoses, *and* still practices relationally. Dr. Yang understands and practices the art of psychotherapy and mindfulness in addition to medication. He also understands that it takes *time* for a patient to integrate a diagnosis into their life and self-concept. As someone in the medical field, I was looking for this *very rare* blend for my own issues, and I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Yang. He practices the way *psychiatrists used to…” Medical doctors were the *founders* of psychotherapy, “the talking cure”, and very few practice that today. More progressive psychiatrists realize that patient trust and “buy-in” to treatment, psychotherapy, and medication are a powerful path to healing. Finally, I think Dr. Yang understands the HUGE part that cultural values and life experience can play in healing. His practice is small, but his impact on me has been huge.
Dr. Calvin Yang, first and foremost, is a consummate professional and a caring soul. He truly cares for how you are progressing and allows for adjustable methods in your healing. Dr. Yang never forces a treatment and will work with you to find the best path to living your best life.
Punctual and accessible, Dr. Yang ensures that the environment where you meet is calming and discrete. I especially appreciate that he allows for a dual session with my partner and values both of our inputs. I can not recommend Dr. Yang enough!
Dr. Yang is a very patient and knowledgeable psychiatrist that succeeded in helping my sister recover from depression and anxiety. We were desperate to find somebody who would help us with a serious mental issue that my sister has been going through. The numerous doctors within her insurance carriers had wait times of months and her primary general family doctor did not have enough experience. Dr. Yang took us in on a Saturday and immediately re-assured us that he was confident he could cure her. We did counseling and doctor’s visits every 2 weeks. The combination of medication and counseling really helped. I’m glad to say that within 6 months she’s about 100% recovered. She started with a high dose of anti-depression and anti-anxiety medication and today she is on the lightest dose possible and is close to getting off it completely. Dr. Yang is extremely compassionate and always professional and I would highly recommend him for anyone who needs help with counseling and mental health issues.

I am so thankful to Dr. Yang. After years of seeing another psych and being prescribed benzodiazepines for over ten years, I was a hot mess with repeated and debilitating panic attacks. I finally decided to find someone to actually help me and I came across Dr. Yang. Dr. Yang explained to me what was happening to me systemically and neurologically due to the prolonged use of benzodiazepines (tolerance goes up = withdrawal = panic attacks as soon as benzo wears off). I’ve been seeing him for a year and a half now on a slow taper to take me off of the benzodiazepines in a safe and supervised way that doesn’t challenge my daily life. He is caring and has been with me every step of the way and I’ve felt comfortable in his care. He explains what is happening in the body and mind in a way that helps me understand why I’m feeling certain symptoms and this helps me rationalize and look at sensations logically. He’s a calm, professional person who seems to really enjoy helping people and has a certain… craft with how he approaches things. I’m now feeling so much better than I was when I first saw him and I feel like a different person. If you want someone who will listen to you, respond to you quickly, and truly help you instead of writing prescriptions and sending you on your way, Dr. Yang is your guy!
