Anxiety and Panic
Worry, fear, and a body that will not stand down
Generalized anxiety, panic attacks, and the physical symptoms that come with them.

What we might talk about
What it can feel like
Anxiety is not only thoughts. It can be a racing heart, tightness, sleeplessness, or a sense that something terrible is about to happen. Some people arrive after years on benzodiazepines that no longer work the way they used to.
How I work with it
I treat GAD, panic disorder, and related anxiety with medication, CBT, mindfulness, and, when it fits, a careful plan rather than another quick prescription. If a taper is needed, we go slowly enough that daily life can continue.
The first stretch
We start by making the symptoms less mysterious, then pick a pace you can live with.
A bit more
I hear a lot from people who have been handed benzodiazepines for years. If that is your story, we can talk about what the medication is doing in your nervous system and whether a slow, planned change makes sense. There is no prize for white-knuckling it.
